Following the September 11, 2001 attack, security has become a bigger issue than ever. Listed below are some short-term security enhancements prepared by the MACPA D&E Committee. Please share this with appropriate people in your company.
Short Term Security Enhancements

Educate and raise the level of awareness of all warehouse employees
Notify management of any suspicious activities
Review current security activities (SACS Survey)
Check Lighting
Adequacy of locks
Adequacy of site security
Improvement or upgrades to surveillance equipment
Support Limiting access to SARA Title III and Business Plan to First Responders only
Increase background checks
Be familiar with vendors that service your facility
Address security on a regular basis at safety meetings
Do not allow unattended loaded trailers on property
Require appointments for commercial/common carrier; none allowed on site more than 30 minutes prior to appointment
Ensure drivers have proper pick-up number
Confirm driver’s identity at the time of pick-up
Assure seal numbers on trucks match those noted on documentation
Basic Manufacturer should provide updated contact listing of their employees.
Review contingency plan/ emergency procedures with local officials, which include LEPC.
